Amoke Kubat

Amoke Awele Kubat lives on the northside of Minneapolis and says “I see the crisis in our communities as a crisis of mothers. Our mothers are out sourced and under resourced, yet they are doing the most important work of all.” When Kubat was two years old, her mother died.  As an adult she realized she had never experienced a true mother-daughter relationship – a feeling of loss that informs her book, “Missing Mama.”
