City Stay: A Hometown Cultural Exchange

February 14, 2013
There are a lot of great programs that give young people the chance to gain new experiences by traveling overseas. But you don’t have to go far to find out what it’s like to live in different cultural surroundings. There are many families living right here in Minnesota who come from backgrounds that are unfamiliar to those in the majority in the Twin Cities.
The organization “City Stay” is out to break down some of those barriers. They’re recruiting Somali and Latino families to host high school students for four weeks this summer – sharing meals, shopping together and learning about each other.
Julie Knopp and Anne Skold are with City Stay. They visited KFAI and talked with Flor Frey and Mike Fischbein on The Morning Blend.
