Steve Kramer Remembered

January 23, 2013
Steve Kramer died suddenly on Saturday, January 19th. He was the leader of the band The Wallets and was well known as a creative force in music and advertising in the Twin Cities. Two of his artistic collaborators visited KFAI to talk about their friend.
To hear more about Steve Kramer, listen to this week's archive of the Pop Shop. Liberty Finch and DJ Izzy interview Kristian Hoffman--a friend and fellow musician, who talks about his time with Steve as members of the No Wave band The Contortions in NYC during the 1970s.
And coming up on Friday, January 25: Remembering Steve Kramer and The Wallets on the Fubar Omniverse
Join Blanche from 10am-noon as she digs into the KFAI archives to bring you a live performance of The Wallets in Loring Park, 1987. Whether you were dancing like mad next to the band's signature Cadillac ambulance, or are just learning about this too-often-overlooked contributor to The Minneapolis Sound, you won't want to miss this live recording of The Wallets. Thanks to KFAI Board President and longtime-broadcast recording engineer Chris Dronen for this special program.
