Dennis Olson Directs Indian Education
October 17, 2012
A few weeks ago, Dennis Olson was named as the new director of American Indian Education for the Minnesota Department of Education. His assignment is extremely important – to better serve the state’s American Indian students by working with the eleven tribal nations in Minnesota, and to improve student outcomes.
Previously, Dennis Olson was the commissioner of education for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. He talked with KFAI's Flor Frey and Mike Fischbien, who asked about the stubborn achievement gap that plagues Native American students.
