Black Gold Boom
September 7, 2012
Independent Producer and KFAI regular Todd Melby is on assignement for a year in the oil fields of North Dakota, following the changes that come from an economic boom that runs counter to the rest of the economy.
The area has become a magnet for workers from all over the country. The oil boom carries significant ramifications for the communities and the people of the region.
Todd has been working on this project with Prairie Public Radio, the statewide public radio network in North Dakota, and Localore – an initiative of the Association of Independents in Radio, or AIR.
He stopped by KFAI's new morning show to talk about some of the people he's met so far.
