2012 Art-A-Whirl Set to Begin
May 18, 2012
Story by Paul Brohaugh
Springtime in Northeast Minneapolis finds artists sprucing up their studios and perhaps finishing some pieces as they prepare to receive a whirlwind of art-hungry civilians in their places of creativity and work. It’s the Art-A-Whirl, it starts tonight, and this year it’s happening in more than 50 places around the neighborhoods of Northeast.
This weekend, the general public can peruse the works of more than 400 artists in 20 different mediums. Besides studios, the Art-A-Whirl spins through galleries, restaurants and even some private homes.
This will be the 18th year of the Art-A-Whirl. Alejandra Pelinka is Executive Director of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association, the collective of artists that sponsors the tour.
She talked with KFAI's Paul Brohaugh on The Takeaway.
