Last week, Scott Gray, the president of the Minneapolis Urban League, wrote an open letter to the community about the late December death of 3 year old Terrell Mayes, Jr. Mayes died inside his family’s home, hit by a bullet fired from outside. At the time, Terrell and his siblings were heading for shelter inside a closet – something they did whenever they heard gunfire in their north Minneapolis neighborhood.
