Small Business Saturday
Today is known as “Black Friday” – the day after Thanksgtiving. It’s a day for retailers to offer their best deals for the Christmas shopping season. Stores opening in the middle of the night have played host to hoards of shoppers looking for a bargain.
In recent years the Monday after Thanksgiving has been dubbed “Cyber Monday”, a day for consumers to shop online.
And now the credit card company American Express is behind an effort to promote the Saturday after Thanskgving as “Small Business Saturday,” a day for shoppers to patronize small businesses in their community.
Megan McGuire is a small business owner in St. Paul – her shop, “Up Six Vintage”, trades in small furniture pieces and classic clothing. She spoke with KFAI’s Allison Osberg.
