Airport Takeoff Changes Generate Complaints
October 25, 2011
A near-collision in midair last year led the Federal Aviation Administration to change some procedures at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Those changes were made quietly, but the result was a hike in jet noise for some residents of certain areas in South Minneapolis.
Now residents who faced relatively little noise have seen increases over 40 per cent, and there is every indication that the changes are permanent.
Irate citizens are planning to bring their case to the Metropolitan Airports Commission at a meeting at at the MAC offices at 6040 28th Ave. South in Minnepolis at 7 o’clock on Tuesday, October 25th.
One of those people, Karl Starr, talked with KFAI’s Bob Hines and Michelle Alimoradi, who wondered if we’re starting the airport noise debate all over again.
