Sandra Velasquez of Pistolera on Radio Pocho

July 13, 2011
On the July 13 episode of Radio Pocho we're excited to feature special guest Sandra Velasquez, lead singer of the New York-based group Pistolera. This band fuses Latin grooves like cumbia, rancheras, corridos with rock as well as a contemporary use of the accordion. They self-describe their music as meeting at the border of Brooklyn and Mexico which is clearly reflected in their latest album, El Desierto y la Ciudad (The Desert and the City).
Sandra will be providing us with some new cuts from the album as well as a guest DJ set of the more influential music in her upbringing.
