Stimulating conversation about the Somali dress on Sunday, July 10

July 8, 2011
Tune in to Somali Community Link Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. to hear a stimulating conversation with Heather Marie Akou, author of the book The Politics of Dress in Somali Culture. Heather did her undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota. Her observation of the Somali immigrants established an interest in the Somali dress that led to her graduate work on this subject. Currently she is an Associate professor at the University of Indiana.
During this interview, Somali Community Link would like to hear from the non-Somali audience about what they think or make of the Somali dress, and for the Somali audience to share their journey with their own ways of dressing and what it means to them.
