True Brit! explores Pub Rock and Red Box!

May 14, 2011
This coming Friday night / Saturday morning, True Brit! will be exploring the Pub Rock scene from the 70's and then moving forward to talk to Simon Toulson-Clarke, the leading light with the band Red Box! Your host Simon Husbands will lead you through the years, culminating with a look at the brand new Red Box album, 'Plenty'.
The British Pub Rock movement was a great clearing house and a preparation for the punk explosion of the mid 70's - expect to hear music from Ducks Deluxe, 101'ers and Dr. Feelgood!
And.....Red Box are a British pop group first active from the early 1980s to the early 1990s, founded by Simon Toulson-Clarke and Julian Close. They scored two UK Top Ten hits with the singles 'Lean on Me (ah-li-ayo)' in 1985 and 'For America' in 1986, both of which were included on their debut album 'The Circle & The Square.'
Red Box returned briefly in 1990 with the single 'Train' and second album 'Motive' and again in 2010 with third album 'Plenty' released in the UK in October 2010. The group is now led by singer-songwriter Simon Toulson-Clarke with a third line-up of supporting players.
