Para los mineros. . .
August 24, 2010
This Sunday, August 22, in Chile, after 17 desperate and increasingly hopeless days after a landslide caused a tunnel to collapse, 33 miners, all alive and sound, were located through a probe about 2,200 feet below ground. On Monday, when audio communication was established, their first question was about the wellbeing of a group of fellow miners that were on their way out when the tunnel collapsed. In celebration of the miners' amazing survival and their spirit and solidarity, most of this week’s Encuentro (Thursdays, 8-10 PM) will be dedicated to songs on and about miners, from Latin America, Spain and elsewhere.
