KFAI is proud to sponsor Resistencia Festival, Minnesota's 4th Annual celebration of alternative music and art in Spanish, English and Portuguese. The event will take place Friday, November 14th, 2008 at Bedlam Theatre on Minneapolis' West Bank.
Resistencia Festival features more than ten local bands. This year's participants include:
The evening starts off with live electronic sets by DJ Marcos, Skell, and DJ Ras, and an alternative art show featuring local visual artists Jim Grafsgaard, Xilam Bilam, Xavier Tavera, Americo Lunatico, and Betto Limon to continue thoughout the night.
Tickets are six dollars ($6) at the door. 18+.
Resistencia is more than just a festival, it's a movement. It exists to give voice to a diaspora of groups and artists within the growing Hispanic, Latino and immigrant communities in Minnesota and the Midwest. It celebrates, showcases and promotes the musical and cultural diversity present in Minnesota's artistic community today.
Musical styles range from rock, ska, punk, metal, hip hop, and electronica to spoken word, visual art, theater and everything in between.
