
60th Anniversary of the Israeli State and the Palestinian Al-Nakba

May 15th marks the anniversary of the 60th anniversary of the Israeli state and the Palestinian Al-Nakba. In 1948, 85% of the Palestinians living in the areas that became the state of Israel became refugees. 60 years later, Israel prides itself on accomplishing prosperity and democracy in the official homeland for Jews, while struggling to secure its borders. Karen Redleaf of the Coalition for Palestinian Rights and Shlomo Weinish, Minneapolis Community Shaliach for the Sabes Jewish Community Center spoke on the topic and related activities happening in the Twin Cities.
