Colombia Unions Reach Out

March 20, 2008
United Steelworkers, the Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition and Witness for Peace-Upper Midwest recently sponsored a series of forums throughout Minnesota to discuss Colombia labor union assassinations and the implications that unfair trade policies would have between the United States and Colombia.
KFAI's Lauretta Dawolo Towns spoke to one of the Colombian speakers, Edgar Paez. Paez is part of the international mission of Sinaltrainal (National Food Industry Workers Union) in Colombia. Eduardo Cardenas of the Minnesota Immigrant Freedom Network and the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Coalition provided translation.
