Harriet Washington studies and writes about medical ethics, tackling the question of what impact doctors and their work have on society and what is good and what is evil about some of the things the medical community does.
Washington was in the Twin Cities for a couple of days to lecture about her book Medical Apartheid, a look at how blacks and other communities of color have been treated over the years by doctors and medical researchers.
