Angela Davis at Macalester

Life-long activist Angela Davis recently spoke at Macalester College as part of the college's celebration of Black History Month. Davis did not give a prepared speech. Instead, she responded to questions given by Dutchess Harris, Professor of American Studies at Macalester. KFAI intern, Tom Lisi, a Macalester student, was there to cover the event. Davis began bt responding to a question about the resurgence of racist behavior, particularly on college campuses.
Angela Davis is currently Professor of the History of Consciousness at the University of California at Santa Cruz. SHe is founder of the organization Critical Resistance, which works for the abolition, not reform, of prisons in the United States. She has been a strong critic of the US prison system for many years.
