February 25, 2008
Tune in to Womenfolk on Sunday, March 2 at 11 a.m. as host Ellen Stanley welcomes into the studio two unique duos. They'll play live and give you a sneak peak of what you can hear that night at KFAI's monthly Womenfolk at Gethsemane concert...
Natalie Nowytski is Ukraininan and sings pop songs; Norah Rendell is Canadian and plays Irish music. They both live in Minneapolis and perform in duos, and on March 2nd, they will come together to celebrate International Women’s Day with music inspired by folk, Celtic, classical pop and traditional Eastern European sounds. Known for her work with Mila Vocal Ensemble, Orkestar Bez Ime and Peter Ostroushko, Natalie Nowtyski is a renowned vocalist who is now performing original material with her new musical partner Reid Kruger. Together they create rich soundscapes heavily influenced by the music of Jeff Buckley, Cinematic Orchestra and Bjork. Norah Rendell moved from Vancouver to Minneapolis after studying traditional Irish music in Limerick. She has performed around the world with the Scottish/Irish/Canadian roots band The Outside Track and is currently touring throughout the Midwest with Brian Miller, promoting their new CD Wait There Pretty One.
