TPS Not as Urgent for Somalis
February 20, 2008
TPS or Temporary Protected Status allows people from certain countries affected by an armed conflict or environmental disaster to stay in the United States for a period of time until condidtions in their homeland improve. On March 17, 2008, TPS for Somali refugees offically expires. KFAI's Fabian Giese began a report that defines this special status and the circumstances by which it was originally granted to Somalia. His story concludes by explaining why there are so few Somali families that would be affected by next month's expiration date, and the community's continued efforts to contribute to American society.
