Fado Music with Gaucho Joe on the Wave Project

In Portuguese, “Fado” means fate or destiny. The origins of Fado music date back to at least the early 1800s. The music is characterized by sad lyrics and melodies that tell tales of the sea, life of the poor, heartbreak and longing. Portuguese and Brazilian music aficionado Joe Schermann presents an hour of Fado music, with background and history of this interesting genre.
