Preventing Youth Violence
January 18, 2008
Last week, the Youth Violence Prevention Steering Committee unveiled a comprehensive new initiative for dealing with and preventing youth violence in Minneapolis.
The City's Blueprint for Action plan recognizes youth violence as a public health epidemic that requires a holistic, multi-faceted response. The 4 key goals are:
- Every young person in Minneapolis is supported by at least one trusted adult in their family or their community.
- Intervene at the first sign that young people are at risk for violence.
- Restore young people who have gone down the wrong path.
- Unlearn the culture of violence in out community.
The Blueprint for Action is available online at the City of Minneapolis website.
