Hope Community Celebrates 30 Years

September 16, 2007
Hope Community recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary this weekend with a community block party on the corner of Franklin and Portland Avenues in Minneapolis. Free food and music represented the various backgrounds of community residents, and entertainment included a giant chess game. The public turned out to help celebrate a true redevelopment success story.
Hope Community provides housing, educational, economic development, and civic participatory programs and resources for the historically diverse Phillips neighborhood. Hope community sees its mission as an alternative to gentrification, redeveloping the neighborhood without drastically changing the cost of living.
