Critical Mass Arrests

September 16, 2007
Cyclists filled the downtown Minneapolis streets on Friday August 31st during a monthly protest by the Minnesota Critical Mass Movement. 19 people were arrested on various charges including suspicion of rioting and held on bail up to $3000. The kick-off conference of the Republican National Convention Welcoming Committee (RNC-WC) was also incorporated into the demonstration. Some protesters and allies believe the Minneapolis Police Department used the scene as training ground for RNC security. Most of those arrested have been released on bail and will have their first appearance in court on October 1st.
