AFSCME Requests Pay Increase

September 4, 2007
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the union representing clerical, technical and health staff at the University of Minnesota, believes that if the U's employees share the pay decreases, they should all share the increases. AFSCME is threatening a strike if members do not obtain an adequate percentage increase in pay as the rest if the U's employees. AFSCME is currently in stalled contract negotiations with the U of M. A strike date has been set for Wednesday September 5, 2007.
