I-35W Reconstruction Discussion

The Joint House and Senate Transportation Committee met recently at the Minnesota State Office Building to continue discussion of the I-35W reconstruction plan. In this segment, KFAI's Lauretta Dawolo examines testimony from elected officials. Especially noted is the starck contrast between Mayor R.T. Rybak's support of lightrail accessability for the new bridge design and MetCouncil Chair Peter Bell's support for a bus rapid transit option on the bridge, maintaining the original plans for Central Corridor. A separate hearing was held to garner comments and suggestions from citizens that evening at the Minneapolis Central Library in Downtown Minneapolis.
