The Greatest Song Ever Recorded!

August 26, 2007
On Monday Night, August 27, Jet Set Planet host Glen Leslie will unleash onto the KFAI listening public the greatest song ever recorded: Shorty Rogers’ Wampuskitty – his love song to the dune buggy.
One of the legends of West Coast jazz, Shorty Rogers stopped performing in 1962 and transitioned into full time studio work – specializing in movie and television soundtracks throughout the 1960s and 70s. Though Bug In is his greatest effort for motion pictures, he was also responsible for another Jet Set Planet fan favorite: the soundtrack to the film Tarzan, the Ape Man. According to spaceagepop.com, among the television series he wrote music for were The Partridge Family, The Mod Squad, The Rookies, Starsky and Hutch, and The Love Boat.
Will Shorty get a decent exhaust note out of that wheezin' little V-dub? You’ll have to tune in to Jet Set Planet, Monday Night, August 27th, from 1030 to midnight to find out.
