Bangla Men of Letters, next on the WAVE Project

August 12, 2007
On the WAVE Project, August 19, hosts Dolly Khandkar and Lena Malek present a close-up of two major poets of Bangladesh: Rabindranath Thakur and Kazi Nazrul. The program will include readings and music, in English and Bangla.
Rabindranath Thakur was the first Nobel Laureate from Asia and composer of national anthems of Bangladesh and India. His works influenced Kazi Nazrul, the Rebel Poet. Nazrul’s works in turn inspired a movement against British presence in Bangladesh and the Indian sub-continent.
A highlight of the program will be Bangal songs dedicated to both the victims of recent devastating floods in Bangladesh and those affected by the I-35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis.
Don’t miss this informative and sure-to-be moving program, Sunday, August 19, from 6 to 7 pm, on KFAI's Wave Project.
