Local musician Albert Elmore has a new release coming from TOTALLY GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT: Albert – James St Murder Laden Mitten Wonder. In honor of his upcoming release and coinciding tour Albert will be sitting in and spinning some tracks from his brand new LP.

Hannibal Lokumbe will be the featured guest on the Collective Eye this Saturday, Feb. 11th, 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Hannibal is in town as the featured composer, educator, and artist-in-residence for the annual Witness celebration.

In honor of The Monks’ Gary Burger and his performance at Freewheelin 1st Friday at the 331 Club January 6th, KFAI programmers will feature garage and punk rock music on their shows this week. Tune in to hear the wilder side of some of your favorite shows.

Radio Pocho is excited to have chicana rock group Girl in a Coma with us on WEDNESDAY JUNE 1st. They’ll be taking a break from their tour to give us a call and let us know what they’re up to. The San Antonio based band will be making a stop in Minneapolis to perform at the Varsity Theater this Friday June 3rd.

The Radio Pocho crew (DJ Miguel Vargas and DJ Ren) is excited for this week’s special guest Wil-Dog Abers bassist for Ozomatli and Los Super Seven.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA Wil-Dog’s music and success is reflective of the multiculturalism present in the city. As such, his music with Ozomatli constantly pushes the boundaries musically and politically.

Tune in to Rockin in Rhythm Monday Nov. 7th from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Host David Cummings will present a 2 hour program celebrating the centennial birthday anniversary for “The King of the Cowboys”, Roy Rogers. Roy was born on November 5th 1911 in Cincinnati, OH.

The 10th Annual Nordic Roots Festival begins Friday, September 26th, and runs through Sunday, September 28th, at the Cedar Cultural Center:http://www.thecedar.org. Eight different groups are scheduled to perform in evening and daytime concerts, but this festival brings musicians together in such a way that audiences might see surprise guests on stage from different bands.

Tonight’s episode of Radio Pocho will take us back in time to the year 1973. This year brings us the tail end of the Vietnam war, Richard Nixon’s presidency, and widespread inflation across the world. Musical innovation tends to flourish under this kind of adversity.
