New music from Twin Cities artists James Buckley, and from the Small City Trio, whose leader, Jeremy Walker has moved to NYC. Also heard new music from Gabriel Alegria and the Afro-Peruvian Jazz Sextet, bassist Colin Dean, and Dan Block. Got to play a number of older tunes today, including performances from Jimmy Smith, Gene Ammons, David Sanchez, Kenny Barron, and both the Mingus Big Band, and Charles Mingus.

The first ½ hour presents a Caribbean approach to the music of great European masters. The second ½ hour is entirely dedicated to the Latin American guitar tradition. The third ½ hour consists of some traditional Mexican songs. The literature segment is a dramatized version of a few excerpts of the second chapter of “Don Quijote de la Mancha”.
