Lynette talks with poet Ann Iverson. She’s a member of the Laurel Poetry Collective, and her newest book is Definite Space. Many of the poems in this collection describe the conflicted feelings of a mom watching her son called to the Iraq war.
In the second half of the show, we talk with Haifa Zangana, author of City of Widows: An Iraqi Woman’s Account of War and Resistance. Haifa Zangana is a weekly columnist for al-Quds newspaper and a commentator for The Guardian, Red Pepper, and al-Ahram Weekly. She lives in London.
