Music of and a tribute to the late Manny Brothern, pianist from northern Minnesota who “played Ellington better than the Duke himself”, presented by his son Lance Brothern.
Because of a glitch in the recording software, the recording was shifted by 1 hour. This recording only contains the last 1/2 hour of the program. This program explores the use of accordion in Latin American traditional music. Since its introduction to Latin America throughout the 19th century, the accordion has been enthusiastically adopted and entire genres have been either created or dramatically modified around it. The program include examples from Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Panama.
