3pm: Max Roach – Drums Unlimited
A tribute to the late Max Roach. In this hour-long special Max Roach tells his story with frankness and a characteristic sharp wit, supported by special guests including Dizzy Gillespie, and noted drummers Paul Motion and Art Taylor.

4pm: Sly and the Family Stone: Family Affair
A one-hour radio documentary about Sly the Family Stone, their music, their turbulent history, and the indelible marks they left behind.

5pm: James Brown, Bluesman
The Godfather Of Soul, the late James Brown, will always be remembered for the funk music he developed more than for his blues. But Brown brought his unique spirit and talent to the blues genre and to jazz, even if the recordings were deep cuts on albums or unissued until many years after he made them. This special features some of those deep tracks, including his versions of songs from the repertoire of his greatest influence, Louis Jordan— as well as his haunting King Heroin and other affecting performances not at the top of the James Brown catalog of hits.
