Our guest on this program is watercolorist Charlotte Laxen. Charlotte speaks of her first trip to France, which lead her to devote her life to her art. One summer, she was a teacher of painting at Giverney, in the gardens of the 19th century Impressionist, Claude Monet. She continues to paint and exhibit in galeries in Lake City and plans to exhibit in the Twin Cities. Watch for her! We play songs of Yves Duteil, her favorite French singer.
On Tuesday, August 17th, Antonia Felix joins us to talk about her newest biography, Sonia Sotomayor: The True American Dream. Antonia Felix is the author of many biographies of political and music figures, including Condolezza Rice, Wesley Clark, and Harry Connick, Jr.
We also talk with Jennifer Dodgson of the Loft and John O’Dell about the Loft’s upcoming Novel-Writing Conference, taking place November 5th through 7th and featuring Charles Baxter, C.J. Hribal, and many other award-winning novelists.
Back to the show with 25 CDs of beautiful music….from the back porch. Coolin’ off the way they did it down south in the Delta. Just sittin’…just waitin’ for the sun to go down. And you know it will ‘cause trouble….and the heat….don’t last always.
Brown Eyed Soul! Special guest Rambo Salinas of Hot Pants fame hits the studio with some wax to blow your mind. Keeping it Brown Proud the show brings you some rare and some not so rare soul from L.A., San Antonio, and beyond.
Also, a very sentimental goodbye to the legend Steve Jordan aka El Parche. On behalf of all Pochos across the world, El Parche you will be missed.
