Willie Gray & The Gossamer Sisters were our guests for the entire show. They played numerous cool songs and joked around with us, all live in the studio. The band consists of Nate Westgor of Willie’s American Guitars, Mary Rancone, and Deb Brown. As usual, the talented and lovely Angie Pykonen sat in with me on the show.

Tonight was the debut of the excellent, long awaited second Dubchek album “Far East End”; the cool new “Unify on the Hi-Fi” EP from Prince Blanco; and the new world-wise “Blues Sauce” album from Jaja Matsimela.
Marty Dworkin, President of the Board of The Musical Offering, speaks of the May 15 concert of the chamber music group. The professionl group, several of whom arein the Minnesota Orchestra, will play a concert of French works by: Francis Poulenc, Maurice Ravel and a Czech, Boroslav Martinú.
We speak with Elizabeth Berg about her newest novel, Once Upon a Time There Was You. Elizabeth Berg is the author of more than 20 books, among them The Last Time I Saw You and Home Safe.
We also talk with Eric Dregni about his newest book, Vikings in the Attic: In Search of Nordic America. It’s an exploration of historic sites, tales, and traditions—often quite bizarre—of this colony of Scandinavia in the Midwest. Eric Dregni is the author of many other books, including Never Trust a Thin Cook and other Lessons from Italy’s Culinary Capital.
It felt good to be back in the saddle again and especially good to be back at KFAI after being a judge for the 2012 International Blues Challenge Road To Memphis show. Sena Ehrhardt Band won the competition to represent Minnesota next year and next week she’ll be a guest on Rollin Tumblin.(Tom Hunter Jon Gunvaldson won the duo category.)
