Peter Rich shares conversations he has had with young local progressives from the Twin Cities on a broad range of subjects such as the arts, entertainment and the green economy.
The first 20 minutes consist of Nicaraguan music. The rest of the first hour is used to explore the connection Mexico-Ireland, mainly through the CD “San Patricio”, produced by Ry Cooder and Paddy Moloney (from “The Chieftains”) and issued just a few days ago. The last ½ hour includes Mexican music and the last 7 minutes have the reading of a small fragment from “Pedro Páramo” read by the author himself, Juan Rulfo.
Today we listen to a program on the Regional Music of Iran. This the first show in a series of eleven shows focusing on the ethnic and regional music of Iran. Each month the program will focus on one particular region. This first show gave a brief overview of the many different regions and ethnicities that make up the rich and diverse culture of Iran. The show was produced by Dan Rein and Baktash Boghrati.
During the second hour we had in studio guests, Em Waadj, a local Arabic group. Members are Dawn Doering, Salah Fateh, Laura Harada, and Tim O’Keefe.
