Music

9/29 in a nutshell…
The end of summer, the end of September, and The End as a 4(+1)@4 theme! Indeed, even the GotchaSKAvered’s September selection is about The End, and the overall theme extended beyond that! Not to worry, though, we’re far, far, far from the end of RSST… you can have my ship when you pry the controls from my cold, dead fingers!:^) After Hours Tries It Again, TSPO Opens Our Eyes and Bonnie Pink doesn’t get Chrissie Hynde wrong! Backing up a bit, Sherwood delivers Perez Prado’s near-8-minute epic Mosaico Cubano, Arthur Lyman’s exotic Vera Cruz and the singularly unique Andre Popp’s Bloody Serenade. The Ooh, or Opening Oldies Hour, included choice covers of Long Day Short Night and A Rockin’ Good Way, as well as the Blues delivered by Rico’s British outfit The Rudies, just before Baba Brooks got upstaged by his piano player at a Jam Session… WOW, anybody know who that cat was? As Granville Williams might have said, he was Wailin’! That cut really fades too soon…

You had another Pam in the driver’s seat this morning: Pam Hill:http://www.kfai.org/pamwithoutboundaries filled in for Pam K, joined by Lady J:http://www.kfai.org/rollinandtumblin. It was still a great mix of music like you would expect on Stone Soup, just a slightly different recipe…

Another crazy mix of music tonight – including a bunch of new tunes and some items intended for last week’s Echo Beach special, like Senor Coconut, Tito Puente, Paul Haig, Cal Tjader, and 11 Acorn Lane. New releases include Vincenzo Cipollone’s excellent Far West; the heavy new Virtual Dub 4 compilation from Manwel T and friends; and the strange but good Vampire Slayer album from Denja (on Atlanta Street). More new material in the mix from B.Riddim, Zion Train, Goapele (with the sexy Play single), Digitaldubs, Vieux Farka Toure, and Ras Amerlock.
