Americana music galore today. Pete Anderson, who will be playing the Turf Club on November 13, called in during the first hour. Pete’s a killer guitar player who’s worked with Dwight Yoakam, Michelle Shocked, Rosie Flores, Blue Rodeo and a slew of other top shelf artists. Kind of a crappy phone connection, but the interview went well and he seems like a real nice guy (in addition to a great guitar player).
Hour two featured music that Gurf Morlix played on, including Ray Wylie Hibbard, Tom Russell, Jimmy LaFave, Lucinda Williams, and Ray Bonneville.
We’re bringing Gurf Morlix to Patrick’s Cabaret this coming Saturday night. He’s been a big advocate of the music of Blaze Foley and released a CD entitled “Blaze Foley’s 113th Wet Dream” earlier this year.
We’re going to start of the night with live music by Dave Babb, followed by the highly-acclaimed documentary “Blaze Foley: Duct Tape Messiah”, followed by a full performance by Gurf Morlix.
