During the first hour we listen to music from the Arab world. As we approach the 9/11 anniversary, I think is important to look at the culture the government and the media demonizes. We first listened to the Arab world’s greatest singer, Oum Kalsoum performing Azkouriny. Then after that we listened to the premier Muezzin from Aleppo, Syria, Sabri Moudallal. Besides singing religious chants, he also sings the classical Wasla style. He sang Wasla Madath Nabawiyya. We finnish off with Allaoa Zerrouki, one of Berber sings of the Kabyle, Algeria.

Jackson and the ladies this afternoon. Angie and Sweet Mama J, I was in good hands. Sweet Mama J came in to talk about her gig this Saturday night at Lee’s, opening for Dave Gonzalez & The Stone River Boys. She also sang with Wanda Jackson tonight at Xcel Energy Center, opening for Adele.

Second hour was devoted to music featuring Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan, a.k.a. Flo & Eddie as either lead or backup singers. We played some of their solo material, Turtles songs, Zappa, T. Rex, Stephen Stills, Mothers….even a little bit from their old syndicated radio show. Flo & Eddie will be appearing at the State Fair Monday night, rain or shine.
