Cuba dominates the first hour of Global Beat – then we go to the Mideast, upon hearing of Israel’s attack on the Gaza.

Tonight we filled the first hour with a bunch of new stuff, then shifted gears and filled most of the rest of the program with all Jamaican music. This has been an annual tradition for some time – doing an all Jamaican show in early November in remembrance of my late Jamaican father-in-law Robert. The new music included excellent releases from Soothsayers, Rod Anton & the Ligerians, Anthony B, U-Roy, Aldubb, Steve Steppa, and Sangue Bom. And the all-JA mix for Robert included: The Heptones & Sound Dimension, Niney the Observer, The Mighty Diamonds, Prince Buster & Lee Perry, Junior Byles, Augustus Pablo, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Burning Spear, Bunny Lee & the Aggrovators, Wingless Angels (feat. Justin Hinds), Desmond Dekker, Lloyd’s All Stars, Cherine Anderson, Omar Perry, Sly & Robbie, Jesse Royal, Don Corleone, Jackie Mittoo, Scientist, Barry Brown & U-Mike, Dillinger, Dennis Brown, Tony Tuff, King Jammy, Ras Michael & the Sons of Negus, and Oku Onoura.
