As this was our second-to-last Radio Rumpus Room ever, we doubled down on the guests. The St. Paul surf’n‘drag combo the 99ers joined us in the studio for a half dozen live ‘uns, and Tony Andreason and Dal Winslow, founding members of the legendary Twin City stomp kings the Trashmen hung out with us to chat and spin some tales. Whoa dad — don’t be a hodad! Check out this show while you can!
ALSO, and VERYIMPORTANT: We want to keep in touch with as many of our Highly Valued Listeners ™ as we can. Please please please pass along your name and email address (or a phone number if that’s the only way) so we can let you know when we sit in or sub for another show, OR when we put together some in-person RRR-type event in the Cities. You can reach us at rumpus2 (at) bitstream.net or snail mail us at Ron and Jean, 3119 37th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55406. We’d love to hear from ya!
Farvel Norge, hej Danmark!!!!!! Echoes of Syttende Mai and a spate of Danish tunes to herald Danish Day 2010. As usual the celebration will take place the first Sunday in June. Happening at the Danish Center, E Lake St and W River Road beginning at 10AM. All are welcome.
new Peg Simone, New Black Keys, New gemma Ray… more and more new stuff and more than just one song from each. I think it’s good to celebrate a new album that is an actual ALBUM with merit by having the whole thing being played…. don’t you think?
It was a fun 8am hour this morning as Duncan Maitland:http://www.myspace.com/duncanmaitland was back in town and brought his brand new album with him. We listened to Lullabies for the 21st Century, gave away several copies (thanks, everyone, for playing Duncan’s trivia game), and Simon joined Pam in asking Duncan about the evolution of his songs. We also heard new music through the morning from Crooked Still, Gogol Bordello, and Flying Lotus.
