The government may be shutting down but the Rockhouse carries on. We welcome Curtis Obeda, leader of the Butanes, in to the studio for Hour 2. To kick off this weekend’s Riverbend Blues Festival in Mankato, Curtis is reuniting the Butanes’ Soul Revue after a 10-year hiatus. We’ll also talk about the new Butanes’ record, Long Time Thing, released this spring.
Thanks to Howlers for coming on the show and performing live today. They’ll be appearing, along with Tom Feldmann of the Get-Rites, at Freewheelin’ First Friday, this Friday night at the 331 Club.

It was my pleasure to welcome to the studio today three very special guests. First, my good friend Les Block, Sheridan Zuther, singer-actress-producer-teacher, the list goes on. Phil Mattson who has been the arranger for groups like the Manhattan Transfer, and his own choral Jazz group the Phil Mattson Singers. Phil is a native Minnesotan who is internationally known for his musical expertise in choral arranging and composition. Be sure and tune in this week’s archives for a very interesting and entertaining show.
