Blues

There were problems with our heating system all day and it was chilly in the studios until The Brass Messengers showed up. Then the heat was ON!

Fun afternoon. Angie Pykonen sat in with me again this week.

We rocked some, laughed a little, paid tribute to Dave Ray (who passed away 9 years ago this week), played some blues (including a bluesy version of “Polk Salad Annie”), included a couple of Texas songwriters, threw a few classic British people in for good measure, stumbled over words (as is my way), shilled for the Mary Cutrufello performance at 331, danced to some rockabilly, and pretty much stuck to the Freewheelin’ script….oops, there isn’t one.

Think you may want to check out the list of songs? Just click “more” below and you’ll be transported to the playlist (and you may also link into the archive of the show, should you be bored and need some background music).

Two interviews today,#1) Kelley Hunt who is playing at the Dakota in Mpls on December 2nd and 3rd, and #2) over in St. Paul at Wilebski’s Blues Saloon, Mississippi Heat on December 2nd. We talked with harmonica man, Pierre LaCocoque from that band. Two great interviews but only had time for 16 songs. See play list below:
