This program includes a few songs by the Mexican composer Roberto Cantoral (who passed away last Saturday), some traditional Mexican music played on “Salterio” and music from Brazil (Dona Edith Do Prato). The third ½ hour will consist entirely of music by Astor Piazzolla. The last ½ hour will include a reading of a short story by Gabriel García Márquez.
This week on Show #7 we had The Vibro Champs burning up the airways. Their energy blew a fuse in the board twice. DISCLAIMER: We billed this as the last performance of the Vibro Champs in the Twin City Area for a year but they ended up getting two more gigs before Dave disappeared, so sue us.
Tons of new stuff – by the likes of Bandulu Dub, Eric Blowtorch & Prince Jazzbo, Peak, Four Tet, and Basque Dub Foundation; an eclectic “Happy Birthday” mix for my daughter; and a new mix from Liquid Stranger (courtesy of our pal Terry C. of “Echo Beach” at WLUW-FM).
Guest Robert Perizzo speaks of his upcoming book with his own illustrations of the voyageurs and important indigenous, Quebecois, and French personalities of the 17th- 19th centuries in Minnesota. Songs of the voyageurs are played while old and modern French music fills the 9:00-10:00 PM time.
