8/5/2007 Century Song

Today we started out with live in studio guests, the Orange Mighty Trio, bringing their special blend of folk chamber jazz, with Zack on fiddle, Mike on Piano, and Nick on bass.

In the second hour we heard music from George Lamman and his ensemble with Amir el Saffar. They were recorded at the Southern Theatre where they accompanied Cassandra and Jawaahir Dance Company in their presentation, Sawwah back in February 2007. Thanks to Mario Vano, recording engineer.

Tons of new stuff in tonight’s Echo Chamber, including Zion Train’s new Live As One (Universal Egg:http://www.wobblyweb.com/zt/liveasone.html), the Vieux Farka Toure remix album UFOs Over Bamako (Modiba Productions:http://www.modiba.net/index2.html), and the re-released The Seven Voyages of Captain Sinbad (Greensleeves:http://www.greensleeves.net/bio/biogCaptainSinbad.html). This show is dedicated to all those killed and injured in the 35W bridge collapse – which occurred the same day this program was broadcast.
