Amig@s, unfortunately the recording program of today’s show didn’t set one hour ahead its clock. The first 30 minutes of the recording on this page are the last 30 minutes of today’s “Encuentro”.
The first 60 minutes of today’s “Encuentro” can be found in the last 60 minutes of the recording of the preceding program:http://www.kfai.org/node/26688
The first ½ hour of this program consists of a small retrospective of the puertorriqueño composer Rafael Hernández, “El Jibarito,” (1891-1965). The second ½ hour presents two folk Argentinean genres: “Malambo” and “Chacarera”. The last ½ hour includes music from Uruguay and the last 12 minutes contain the reading of a few texts by the Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano.
Today we had an interview with Irish Accordionist Paddy O’Brien about his group Chulrua. During the second hour Hosmer librarian Roy Woodstrom interviewed Dan Rein about Iranian music, with live music on setar, Kurdish tanbur, and Torbat-e Jam dutar.
