World Music

Covering highlights of 2012 thru the rear view mirror… releases, concerts, and more.

David Cummings provides the music, Flor Frey brings news and Mike Fischbein hosts as Morning Blend considers the Idle No More demonstration at the Mall of America over the weekend.  We'll also hear from writer and performer Lorna Landvik about her "Party in the Rec Room" series at the Bryant Lake Bowl, and talk with Wendy Jones of the Minnesota Historical Society about tweeting Minnesota's involvement in the U.S. Civil War

Kicking off a brand new year in style! Dub style that is… First off however, we had two cool versions of “Auld Lang Syne” – Eban Schletter’s cosmic electronic version, and Ghetto Priest’s nyabinghi melding of the New Year classic and his reworking of Robert Burns’ “Slave’s Lament”. Then came the dub, including brand new stuff from Aldubb, Radiola Dub Sound System, Profit, Bandulu Dub, and MakaRon, and recent releases from Kojo Neatness, The Breadwinners, Super Hi-Fi, Adrian Sherwood, Dub Rifles, Invisible Criminal, and Bost & Bim (mashing up Jimi Hendix!). Added to this were Prince Fatty, Anthony B, Empresarios, Dub Majestic, Hal Blaine, David Pablo, John Brown’s Body, Steve Steppa, Kukan Dub Lagan, Ruts DC & Mad Professor, Celt Islam ft. Dawoud Kringle, The Abyssinians, I-Roy, and more…

A lot of danceable pop and fusion. Enjoy.

Happy New Year!
