Welcome back to the RSST! This week, a mostly-moldies 1st hour somehow manages to wind up in the 21st Century with a track from Public Property. Then, Sherwood B. Funn hangs out in the ’70s and ’80s with the likes of The Coconuts (think Kid Creole), Art Of Noise, Tom Waits and Yellow Magic, chucking in a late-‘90s Combustible Edison nugget before winding up in moldie-ville himself with a little Mancini here, some Tadd Dameron there.
Then Cap’n and Cozy (with a little help from Sherwood) pump up the ’80s ska machine with a 2Tone set, reprise youngest-Lollipopper-ever Beverly Staunton, and kick it into the End-zone with some English Beat, Bim Skala Bim and Madness. Crayzeee!
A bit more exploration of the music of Harry Warren, with cuts from Plas Johnson Red Halloway, Flora Purim, Arthur Prysock, and a couple of tunes from the David Berger Jazz Orchestra. I also played new music from jared Gold, Harry Allen, Joel VanderHayden, and Charlie Hunter, as well as classic tunes from Wes Montgomery, Elvin Jones, Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross, and more…
