Drummer JT Bates came by to talk about his appearances at the Minnesota Sur Sein Festival, and the new album NEXT, on which he appears with French saxophonist Francois Courneloup. Also showcased some Fats Waller tunes.
On today’s show, I was able to get in about 35 tunes. How? By not talking as much! I’d had so many interviews the last few shows, I decided to stop all the grinning, and just keep spinning from 3p to 6p with non-stop blues.
Thanks to the support of Summit Brewing of Saint Paul, we were able to have a 4th broadcast Live from the Artists Quarter in downtown Saint Paul. Maurice Jaycox stopped by and performed a couple of songs towards the end of the broadcast.
There were 3(THREE) interviews on this show so the play list may not be complete or in time order. I interviewed: 1) Joan Cartwright from Florida; 2) Sweet Mama J Dan Lansing of the Twin Cities Rockabilly Association re: the late Chris Gaffne’s Fundraiser on May 18th; and #) Blues Harmonica Man RJ Mischo.
