New music this week from Al Green and Sonny Landreth. We also heard some Bo Diddley beat—we lost another music hero in him on June 2nd. If you missed the Rockhouse:http://www.kfai.org/node/83 from June 5th, be sure to catch it in the archives. Brother Tad did a great job of honoring Bo Diddley’s talents for us all.
Once again a worldwide dub onslaught… Coming in from Israel some choice new dubs from Kukan Dub-Lagan:http://www.kukantaiko.com/ (Step Ina Rasta Step) ; from Morocco the brand new Dubosmium:http://www.fresh-poulp.net/releases/FPR020.htm (Green Element); from France a new EP (Cosmiq Ryoku) from Volfoniq, Azzuro, and Hyqo; and from Nashville, Tennessee a new album called Listen Keenly from Pale Rider (formerly of Phase Selecter Sound System).
Thanks to Andy Arsham for filling in last week while I was in DC. I picked up some Thievery Corporation while I was in their hometown, including a great compilation of artists they put together to benefit an open clinic in the DC area, The Underground Sound of DC. We also heard Zappa every hour in honor of Earl Root, and we heard Utah Phillips, including a song he wrote performed by The Sorry Muthas. We lost two heroes of music on May 23rd in Earl and Utah Phillips, and we are blessed for having shared in their passion for sharing sounds and stories with us.
