Another huge night in the Echo Chamber. Starting off with a great new release by The Breadwinners on the King Spinna label. Also new tonight: a tasty new EP from M.A.K.U Soundsystem “A Very Funky Christmas” from Redtenbacher’s Funkestra; and the “Desierto” EP from U-Niko (on Ape Choons). Tonight we also did a Green Queen Records set – to celebrate their 5th anniversary – which included Weirdub, Dr. Cat, Dub Terminator, Polcari, DJ Pony, and Diaspora. More new sounds from the Soothsayers, Bass Culture Players, Lo’Jo, Sangue Bom, Tack>>Head, Yabby You (from the archives), Cineplexx, and All India Radio.

Two from the Sci-Fi Radio series of 1990. The Twonky, by Lewis Padgett, in which a man gets a new stereo console, and then finds it can do a number of things a regular stereo can’t do, including think for itself. And Shape, by Robert Sheckley, where invading aliens assume a shape appropriate to their function, and wonder at humans who seem to have the same shape all the time.

“He played that song so many times, the needle eventually started playing the song on the other side of the record!”
